In February and March, Oakland Cemetery will be giving free tours to celebrate Black History Month. The tour will focus on African-American history as it relates to the cemetery and Atlanta as a whole.
There will be three opportunities:
- February 5th at 2:00 pm
- February 23rd at 2:00 pm
- March 5th at 4:00 pm
Oakland Cemetery is at 248 Oakland Ave.
If you have never been to Oakland Cemetery, it is worth the trip. The cemetery grounds are beautiful and you can see so much of Atlanta's history from the Confederate solidiers' graves to Margaret Mitchell. Afterwards, have a picnic in one of the open fields or go over to Six Feet Under for some fried calamari and fish tacos!
